Customer Buzz
This Optimus Prime toy is a lot of fun and a great display piece. Here are the "pros" and "cons" of the figure:

Pros
*Strong likeness to the character in the movie in both modes----which is no easy feat seeing the complex transformation in the movie.
*Peter Cullen, the voice of the original Optimus Prime, has had his voice recorded for this toy. He says, "I am Optimus Prime."
*Combines with Leader Class Jetfire (which I have yet to find).

Cons
*The paint details are a little lacking. A lot of the sculpted detail in the toy goes unnoticed as a result.
*The instructions are not very clear in transforming the toy.
*It would have been nice if the voice chip said something less obvious like, "Autobots, transform and roll out."

Apparently there will be another version of this toy released with a different head and a gun. It would have been nice to have the gun with this release.

Over all, I really like this toy. I am a Transformer collector and I'm not buying very much from the new movie but I do recommend this one.

Customer Buzz
I have been a Transformers fan for many years now, and all the toys I have collected over the years were alright. My first transformer toy was alright but the best of its time. It didn't do much, but i mean i had a transformer. When i first heard about a movie in production, i would have never expected to see Optimus prime speaking and interacting with humans on the big screen. The CGI was just amazing, and i bought the first transformer from the first movie, but when the ROTF optimus prime toy came out, I could not believe it. I am not a young guy anymore and this is an awesome action figure to have, and it is the most detailed figure i have ever seen. It says for 5 years and up, it should say for like 18 and up. This is not a child's toy, and i am telling u now, do not pass this up, when this is gone, youll regret it, BUY IT NOW!

Customer Buzz
All I have to say I was disappointed with both movies...given that...the action figures are top. I got this for myself ( I know my husband will swipe it from me b/c he's a fan boy like myself:)

Optimus Prime is just that>he's prime

Customer Buzz
This toy was purchased for my 5 1/2 year old grandson. The toy is stated to be made for children 5+ years. Although it looks very nice, it is nearly impossible to "transform" the toy which is the purpose of a transformer. My grandson could not transform the toy nor could I. This made it less than practical especially since we could not even return it to the previous figure. Very dissapointing!!

Customer Buzz
Well, first off let me say, WOW, this figure is awesome! I don't own the previous OP but can definitely tell this one is way better and movie accurate. If you're a fan and collector, you need this one. When transforming he does tend to say "I'm am Optimus Prime" alot but I learned how not to mess with the head. The knives on the arms like to come out but aren't too bothersome. This is a must get!

How's going?
Have a nice time i find Hasbro Transformers Risk Game Yes, I think that interesting .

Customer Shopping BuZZ

Cybertron belongs to me!5
If you're a fan of RISK and you're interested in a new variation of the game, then this version is for you. Like other themed RISK games there are new aspects to the game, like using leaders with attacking/defending advatages and a time limit to play, but this version also incorporates some unique aspects of the Transformers to make things really interesting. Of course, the Cybertronian leaders of your armies can transform, giving them different abilites depending on their mode, but my favorite thing about this version is that the game board itself changes form. Certain zones move according to your playing of cards, and you can use this to your advantage to reveal hidden areas, create new armies, destroy enemy forces, or block off/open access to other zones. The game play is pretty quick, with only 6 days to conquer Cybertron and needing only one card to play a card (instead of three matching ones in standard RISK), but of course you can vary the rules and play a longer version of the game. My main complaint is that the rules are a little vague in some instances, making battle with and loss of leaders confusing sometimes. The board is unique, but a little bland in that the thick borders of the zones block much of the detail of the well-drawn planet in the background. The armies all use the same figures, with one Decepticon force using an unfortunate purple color. The leaders available for the four different armies are Megatron, Prime, Bumblebee, and Blockade.

It is alright, but not quite the same..3
So for fans of the original game, this version has some changes. The board is different of course, but there are a few other rules.

There are only 4 players instead of up to 6.

Each player gets a "leader" piece that can transform and have different special abilities for if it is in vehicle or person form.

There are "moving" locations that provide other special things during the game.

The game takes place over 6 "days" or rounds instead of until the death.

You get to pick your locations at the beginning instead of the randomization of the cards.

There are cards that give you special abilities instead of saving them to trade in for extra armies.

Now, the changes are kind of fun and can be entertaining, but overall, the novelty wears off and leaves wanting to play the original Risk instead. If you are a Risk fan and you can get it for cheap, give it a shot, but if you have never played Risk before, this is just a dumbed down version that is not nearly as fun or exciting, but it can still be somewhat entertaining.

This could be useful for getting some younger kids into the game. They might find it more fun.

To sum up, if it is cheap and you love Risk, go for it, but I would not spend more than 10 bucks max for this.

Excellent game.5
My children all love to play Risk. We have many versions, and they were excited to get the Transformers edition. Risk involves a lot of strategy. It can take several hours to play, so beware of that. It is not a quick, 10 minute game! Any game like Risk, Chess, Stratego, Rummikub--I think they are great for math skills, for exercising the part of the brain that uses analysis, etc. I'd much prefer this over electronic game playing all day.

Transformers Chess Set

I will introduce you to
To day I find introduce you this Transformers Chess Set from amazon and I read about that ,I think that wonderfull.

Customer Shopping BuZZ

Collector's Item4
This is a great item for a Transformer's fan, but defiantly not for someone who intends to use this to actually play chess. Each piece has the symbol of the chess piece it represents, but it does become a bit of a hassle to constantly check which piece is what short of memorizing which transformer represents each piece.

The pieces are a sort of soft plastic material, and the whole set has a smell of spray paint. Again, great collectors item, but not recommended for those who wish to play chess with this chess set.

Great for young new learners4
I am using this game to teach my 6 year old how to play chess. I needed a set that would spark his interest in the game. He is doing well on learning how to play because he loves the Transformers and the "good guys" versus the "bad guys". After one game he was able to remember how most of the pieces move. We do have to constantly look at the symbols on the pieces to figure out what they represent because the figures that the game uses are in no way representative of the traditional pieces. However, I do think that this is still a good starter set for new young players. I figure that once my son really knows how to play, we will get him a set with traditional pieces.

gift for my brother4
My brother is a die hard transformer fan and he loves to play chess so i thought this would be a great gift. the only down fall i have to this product is 2 things.
1. The plastic smell that seems to linger that we hope eventually will go away
2. the peices are hard to read. we got this so he could teach his girlfriend and its difficult to tell what peice is what.

I recommend this game for more of a collecters item then one to use.

Unbelieveable, until you get it in your hands!5
When I first spied leaked photos of this figure, it was difficult to imagine they could make such a toy transform tightly into the truck that we all know. This one must be seen (or better, physically handled) to be believed! The transformation is amazing, and more intricate than anything before seen in the movie lines (and probably in any Transformers line, actually, 'cept perhaps some of the Masterpieces).

Plastics seem to be a little better than the first movie Prime, and the paints are finely done as well. Super poseable and stable. Parts are easy to pop-off, but pop back easily as well (which if you accept, puts the durability to at least 4 stars). Sounds are improved, with a line from Peter Cullen this time round. And the best thing? It's probably as movie accurate as possible, short of making a bigger toy!

Negatives? Well, the wheels are now plastic (not rubber), and have a habit of going out of line in truck mode. The fingers/thumb are no longer articulated. The head doesn't really look up (mainly side-to-side). The Transformation will test most adults, let alone children! And the way some pieces pop-off may be annoying to some buyers.

Despite the negatives, though, this is one amazing figure, and can be very highly recommended. If you only get one Revenge of the Fallen figure, then make it Leader class Optimus Prime!

A True Work Of Art5
I've been collecting transformers since I was a kid and if there's one thing I've ALWAYS hated about the toys up until now, it's that the product never accurately matched up with the character on the screen. Now, keep in mind that back in my day, things like what we see in CGI films like Transformers weren't at all possible...but Takara Tomy finally broke that depressing streak with THIS figure. This has got to be the most impressive example of planning upon planning for a perfected design that features an extremely complex transformation (at first)- but after the first few times you get the steps down pretty easily (only took me a few days). If you compare the 2007 model/version of this figure to the newly redesigned 09' model- you'll see a SIGNIFICANT difference in character comparison. This IS Optimus Prime, not just some inaccurate toy, it's so close to the CGI character that I don't see any mistakes in the design- if anything it's PERFECT. Every detail matches up with the CGI design so well that it's just AWSOME! The toy is durable, AND when you transform it, parts don't rub against each other and mess up the paint job- which i know some perfectionist collectors ABSOLUTELY hate. Buy this figure, because I honestly don't think you'll ever find another TF product this close to character/toy accuracy! BUT, i will say this- if you're a real collector and you want character/toy accuracy...go with the Takara Tomy version instead of the Hasbro version. The Takara Tomy version's name is RA-01 Optimus Prime and you can find him on the web in plenty of online stores. Get that version, because if you look closely you'll see that it's paintjob is actually correct while Hasbro's model has some of it's parts painted red instead of silver- don't settle for that lol. Mkay, well- happy hunting and have fun with this product!

no words nesessary?5
This is truely the figure to get out of all of the Transformers ROTF toys. Brilliantly reimagined with a painstaking transformation not recommended for children under 10 years. Also the lack of pin and hinge support is apparent when parts suddenly pop off but can just as easily be put back on. Also the fingers are not articulated like the last one and it has plastic tires. But these are very minor flaws considering the accuracy of the robot/truck mode. All I can say is that this IS the definitive, though pricier, movie leader class Optimus Prime. Go through amazon, they are a very trustworthy organization for things like these. They find the very best possible in terms of quality and steadfast service. Those are the values that I found anyway. the toy iteself is approximatly 13' inches tall, slightly taller than the last film's Optimus Prime. Very detailed with a really cool gimmic called "Mech Alive". That means that they have incorporated very good design features to where actual moving gears that would normally be seen in their films counterparts, are found in the figures themselves. Improved animatic strips away the separating windows, pop-up head & space laser noise, with something more refined. With chest piece pushed down, his torso moves with startling realizm as if he were talking a deep breath to say a simple line, "I AM OPTIMUS PRIME" in Peter Cullen's actual voice no less (Peter Cullen is Optimus Prime for those of you who don't already know that). Stop reading this review, and just get it! 10++++++ A++++++++ (CRANK'S THE KNOB TO ELEVEN)

This toy is so cool! It adjusts easily and perfectly so that my son and I can both wear it comfortably with only 1 minute of adjustment time. My son LOVES this and so do I. I can't wait to wear it as I go through the drive through at Starbucks Monday! (Not while driving...Ill just put it on right before I get to the window). It is very well made and I swear it looks like it is good enough quality to have been a real movie prop. Very nice! Definaly recomend

Definitely 5 and up!2
Bought this for my son because he saw it in the store and begged us for weeks. He was sooo excited to get it for his 4th birthday but it's been a disappointment. We tried adjusting it but it's very heavy and he just doesn't like wearing it. Believe the label when it says 5 and up!

Excellent5
Excellent product, excellent quality, fulfills the dreams of a child in becoming his favorite idol.

Hi my friend this good day!
Now I find Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Yes, I think that interesting .

Customer Shopping BuZZ

Vastly improved over the previous TF movie tie-in game.4
The Transformers video game for XBox 360 that was released with the first film was designed by Travelers Tails (company best known for Lego Starwars, Lego Batman, etc...). That game had many flaws in terms of control, overall simplicity, etc... It was a typical run-of-the-mil movie tie in game given little effort to work out the kinks or provide players with any depth of play.

This title is the first fruit from Activison's exclusive deal with Hasbro to bring TF console and PC games to market (there will be more time come and not all movie tie-ins either). While this game isn't perfect, it's a big leap forward in many areas. I'm written this review for those who've played the previous game, here's a short-list of what they've improved/fixed.

1. Melee combat is now challenging and viable. You can charge attacks, pull of combos, etc...

2. The targeting system is hugely improved. With primary and secondary weapons.

3. Once a Transformer has been unlocked (after using that Transformer in a mission) then that Transformer can be selected for any following mission (in other words, players aren't locked into playing a specific transformer for certain missions).

3. Each character has a unique ability (e.g. Rachet can heal, Bumblebee can stun).

4. Players earn points and can spend them on upgrades!

5. Vastly improved enemy AI (e.g. they transform and run evade when damaged then come back in).

6. On-line head to head multiplayer with different forms of combat (when you combine this with the improved melee and specialty abilities, it's quite nice)

I've only gotten about 1/4 of the way done with it, but it's almost as if Activision went down the list of players complaints and tried to make exactly the type of game we wanted. It's still a movie tie-in game in that you're playing out the movie, but it's done right.

Not sure what else I would add here. I suppose allowing two or more players to team up in the missions would be something to consider adding in the the next game, but overall this is quite nice. Kudos to the dev team!

Good Game3
Imagine what it would be like to become a Transformer. Walking, jumping, and climbing in your humanoid form would be pretty familiar, and you could easily get the hang of whipping out your guns to blast enemies. Driving yourself around might be a bit awkward at first, and flying would be significantly trickier, but the real problems would come when you tried to transform. Shifting your physical form would be really disorienting, and it would take a while before you really mastered it. That's actually a pretty accurate breakdown of what it's like to play Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. In the early going, the controls are uncomfortable but functional. As you play through either of the solid campaigns, you'll get better and better until you reach a point where you can fluidly move between different forms and dispatch your enemies with style. Then the game becomes a fun, engaging romp through the Transformerverse, and taking your skills online gives you a new tactical challenge. Though it takes awhile to get there, and it never outgrows some of its problems, Revenge of the Fallen is an entertaining way to step into the chassis of a giant transforming robot from space. The two campaigns--Autobot and Decepticon--loosely follow the plot of the movie. Each one takes a solid amount of time to complete, and they are different enough that it is worth playing through both. The Transformer models are shiny and detailed, capturing the look of the movie nicely. The voice acting is less impressive. While some Transformers, such as Megatron and Optimus Prime, sound great, others are almost unintelligible, thanks to poor volume matching or overzealous robotic effects. And the human characters (specifically Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox) are so badly voiced that you'll be thankful only some of the missions actually parallel the movie. Other missions diversify the action with familiar mission archetypes: escort/kidnap, defend/destroy, checkpoint race, miniboss fight, and the like. Each mission plays out in an open area full of items you can destroy (cars, tankers, and light structures); though your wrecking power is so substantial you'll probably wish for a bit more environmental destructibility.

Between the mission types and the maps, there isn't a whole lot of variety. It's not quite tedious, but things can start to feel a bit too familiar as you progress. Fortunately, a healthy array of bonus challenges and unlockables do a good job of keeping things interesting. Accomplishing the two bonus objectives in each mission nets you a solid haul of attribute-boosting energon, and shooting the five targets in each area will earn you even more energon, as well as stall the clock so you can strive for a higher medal by finishing quickly. Overarching objectives challenge you to accomplish certain tasks with certain characters, and doing so unlocks episodes of the original Transformers cartoon, as well as vintage paint jobs and concept art. These goals help flesh out the experience and keep you engaged because they give you something else to do during missions besides focus on the primary objectives. Accomplishing all the bonus objectives and earning a gold or a platinum medal is a tough challenge, and you won't even come close until you've mastered the controls.

There are three different forms ("modes") that each Transformer can take: robot, weapon, and vehicle. In robot mode, you walk around in humanoid form and can jump, climb buildings, and melee attack. Holding the left trigger changes you into weapon mode, allowing you to strafe and blast opponents with your primary and secondary weapons. These two modes are easy to master and switch between, but vehicle mode is a bit trickier. Holding the right trigger will transform you into a vehicle, and you'll immediately start driving or flying, depending on your character. It's cool to watch, but figuring out how your momentum will (or won't) be preserved through the transformation is a bit tricky. Until you get the hang of it, you'll often find yourself on an unexpected vector, speeding off in the opposite direction or just plowing into a building. Freeing yourself from environmental hang-ups is a hassle, especially when you're trying to escape the battle fray in order to lay low and regenerate health. Driving around the maps, you may find yourself getting stuck on low barriers or other objects that you were previously able to drive over or through. Flying can be even more finicky, especially if you get into a tight spot where you can't transform. Jet and helicopter controls may also present a problem for some because there aren't many customization options when it comes to the steering and altitude-adjustment controls. Expect to suffer some frustration and awkwardness throughout a good chunk of your first campaign. You'll be able to accomplish your objectives; you just won't look pretty doing it.

But once you've mastered the controls, you can really start to flex your metal muscles. You'll be better at avoiding awkward transformations and getting back on track should you get hung up. You'll get the hang of flying and driving skillfully, and you'll be tearing around each area with confidence. Some of the coolest things you can do in the game are so-called "advanced" maneuvers that you execute in vehicle form. The advanced jump launches your Transformer out of car form and into a high jump (fliers are stuck with the strategically powerful yet unexciting hover ability). These jumps are great for leaping over low buildings and obstacles, but when you string a few together, you can drive/hop from rooftop to rooftop, traversing crowded areas in a speedy and exhilarating fashion. And let's say your enemies have appeared down the street and are heading your way. You transform into a vehicle and race to engage them, firing your vehicle weapon to soften them up. When you get close, you fluidly shift out of vehicle mode, throw your momentum into a deadly melee attack and watch a slow-motion close-up of your Transformer obliterating your enemy. It's pretty awesome.

Not only is the advanced melee attack really satisfying, but it and other stylish kills (like offing an enemy while jumping, scoring a headshot, and the like) will also fill up your overdrive meter. Overdrive makes you tougher, increases your weapon damage, and keeps you from overheating, allowing you to tear through groups of foot soldiers with ease or whittle down a boss' health quickly. Earning and using overdrive is a great way to exercise your formidable moveset, and it's essential to getting through levels quickly and earning a top medal. While it is very satisfying to earn a platinum medal, the real enjoyment comes from wielding your diverse abilities in a skillful way. You feel powerful and excited to be a Transformer, and that is Revenge of the Fallen's greatest success.
Online multiplayer offers a distinct new challenge that is best tackled once you've mastered the controls. The modes and maps are pretty standard fare, and they serve as a competent stage for battle. Each Transformer has a unique loadout that includes a primary weapon, secondary weapon, and special attack. In the single-player campaigns, these different abilities provide some welcome variety. In multiplayer, they add a whole new level of strategic depth. Having Long Haul's combat healing ability can help a Decepticon team stay alive long enough to capture a control point, while a well-timed electromagnetic pulse attack from Bumblebee can give the Autobots a deadly window of opportunity. Teams have to strategize in order to make the best use of the complementary special attacks, though team-only chat doesn't kick in until the match begins, so be careful about how much you say in the game lobby. Coordinating your team roster and experimenting with different lineups yield a surprising amount of possibilities. The interplay of abilities and weapons also makes the otherwise run-of-the-mill game types much more complex and engaging.

Though it isn't immediately accessible, Revenge of the Fallen has a good amount of fun and satisfying gameplay. The initial awkwardness of the controls is a bit vexing, and some issues linger no matter how good you get. The single-player missions and multiplayer game modes aren't very diverse, but the various bonus challenges and strategic nuances add some welcome depth. What Revenge of the Fallen does best is make it fun to be a Transformer by giving you a powerful set of abilities and open maps where you can put them to use. It's enjoyable and engaging, and it's probably the best Transformers product you'll see this summer.

Awesome Game(better than the first)5
There are multiple reasons why this game is better than the first. Firstly the game is more focused on gun combat than melee combat, secondly you can transform in mid-air using a new unique control, and thirdly new characters for each campaign and a variety of characters as well. Your enemy robots don't have their force field up everytime you fire your gun weapon unlike the first game, which spices up the destruction! This game is challenging and an AWESOME game to play!

A blend of cringe inducing screenwriting, nostalgia and mind blowing action4
For a nerd that used to drool over this show as a kid, this movie hooks you from the very beginning. From Optimus Prime's summary intro (with Peter Cullen still at the helm of our favorite alien semi) to the Decipticon attack on the military base, you have no doubts that this is Transformers. Shia LaBeouf makes his entrance and proves the perfect part for this movie. He's actually pretty funny and acts the part well. As far as the rest of the humans in this cast, not as much can be said.

After the awesome introduction, the first part of the movie deals mainly with Shia LaBeouf's Sam purchasing a Camaro that actually turns out to be the Autobot Bumblebee (in the cartoon, originally a VW Bug. I think the yellow VW Bug in the car lot next to Bumblebee was a homage.) Sam unknowingly uses his alien car to impress a girl. Of course she actually is impressed when they find out it's an alien. There are some pretty funny scenes in this part of the movie as well as some action scenes that are very well done.

Soon comes the arrival of the other Autobots and they reveal to Sam their true purpose, which is to locate the Allspark -a powerful device capable of transforming a planet- before the Decepticons get a hold of it. I thought at this point that the slow parts of the movie were over, but not quite. From here we go into a few too many scenes dealing with side characters, from video game playing computer experts to goofy secret agents whose quirks border slapstick comedy. Too many of these characters could be chalked up as comic relief, and most of what they attributed was not very funny. There was a slightly funny but overly long scene where Sam was trying to hide the autobots while he searched through his house for a relic they needed. And then arrived John Turtorro (playing the said goofy secret agent) whom I love, but who severely overstayed him welcome in this. Other performances, namely John Voight's, were just plain campy and the cookie cutter dialogue was cringe inducing at times.

Luckily, I forgot most of that by the time the movie got to its last act. Once the Decepticons arrive in force the movie is a non stop ride of action and jaw dropping effects. While someone who's not familiar with the characters and story might not care what the outcome is, I found myself with memories as a kid, watching the 1986 movie for the first time. I forgot about the humans and their ho-hum sotrylines as my favorite characters and toys from my childhood crashed and shot and ripped each other apart. I forgot that I was watching CG effects as the transformers look as real as the environment they're destroying. The action scenes are larger than life and I'm amazed at how well the battles of the cartoons translated onto big screen. The transformers themselves were all very well done, applying actual physics to their transformations and robot appearances. They look real and modern but don't lose the heart of what the fanboys loved about them from back in the day. And Hugo Weaving as Megatron was genius. I missed hearing the original Starcream, but the original voice actor died many years ago, and the two or three lines Starcream had in this sounded suitable.

Despite the great flaws in acting, dialogue and script, I left this movie with that rare itch to want to go straight back inside and watch it again. From the previews, it looked like the movie was going to take a realistic perspective and show the warring alien machines from a human point of view. But that's really not the case at all. In every other Michael Bay movie, the corny dialogue and overdramatic characters ruin an otherwise good premise. But Transformers is based on a cartoon, so why shouldn't the movie feel like one? Here it works. It's big, dumb nostalgic fun that the kid in me has been after for 20 years.

better than expected4
Maybe it's not the best movie as far as dialogue goes, but for being an action movie about robots from outer space, it's good. The transformations are good enough to not raise doubt about the mechanics of them (which is good for me as an aerospace engineer, because I tend to notice these things). This is the kind of movie that makes large HD televisions and high-quality sound systems worth having.

More Transformers and less humans please3
On the whole, I was not impressed with Transformers. You can try and dismiss its shallow story and numerous inconsistencies and flaws by saying that it is a light hearted movie. But that is more an excuse than not. After all, you can have a good light hearted movie can't you? Others have done it before and will again.

What the movie does have going for it are great special effects and genuinely impressive headliners (The Transformers themselves). The action sequences are enjoyable and a feast for the senses. But they are also relegated to the last half of the movie. If this were the whole movie I'd give it 5 stars. But it isn't the whole movie.

The first half of the movie centers around our protagonist, a semi-annoying and bumbling person too old to be cast as a high schooler and, predictably, only concerned with getting a car and impressing another student (too old to be his love interest and therefor way too old to be a student also). The car he lands from a used car dealership is Bumblebee (now a Camaro). How did the car dealership sell the car without a title, who knows, who cares, this isn't the type of movie to be weighted down with such things. The story just goes on.

By the latter portion of the movie our main character, through Bumblebee, has met the rest of the Autobots and some childish (and unnecessary) attempts at humor are now out of the way - nothing says funny like peeing jokes. So lets have a car pee on the human, that will be so funny! The Autobots have laid out what needs to be done and so they are off to get the All-spark and save the world, or worlds, or something. It really isn't that important. The Decepticons also want the All-spark and so there are some cool battles and then a resolution. Guy gets girl, old Camaro becomes new Camaro (OK, fine, that happened in the first half of the movie) and Megatron (who is now not a gun but a jet-sorta-thingy) is out of the picture except maybe not, who knows?

I will admit that as far as reviews go, there isn't much meat here, but there isn't much meat to Transformers either. A lot of people liked it and I say good for them. Personally, I found it mostly dull, childish and hard to sit through. I think there was a lot of room for originality but the story is so boringly simple-minded and rushed and very by-the-book feeling. It is, at its core, a copy of almost every other summer blockbuster movie but with giant robots wreaking the disaster and an unlikely protagonist to make all the wrong moves yet somehow save us all...oh wait, that last part has been done before hasn't it. My bad.

Transformers is a 2007 live-action film adaptation of the Transformers franchise, directed by Michael Bay and written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. It stars Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky, a teenager involved in a war between the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, two factions of alien robots who can disguise themselves by transforming into everyday machinery. The Decepticons desire control of the All Spark, the object that created their robotic race, with the intention of using it to build an army by giving life to the machines of Earth. Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Jon Voight, Anthony Anderson and John Turturro also star, while voice-actors Peter Cullen and Hugo Weaving play Optimus Prime and Megatron respectively.

Producers Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto developed the project in 2003, with a treatment written by DeSanto. Executive producer Steven Spielberg came on board the following year, and hired Orci, Kurtzman and Bay for the project in 2005. The filmmakers wanted a realistic depiction of the story, and created a complex design aesthetic for the robots to stress their alien nature. The computer-generated characters were programmed to have thousands of mechanical pieces move as they transformed and maneuvered. The United States Military and General Motors lent vehicles and aircraft during filming, which saved money for the production and added realism to the battle scenes.

Hasbro organized an enormous promotional campaign for the film, making deals with hundreds of companies. This advertising blitz included a viral marketing campaign, coordinated releases of prequel comic books, toys and books, as well as product placement deals with GM and eBay. The film was a box office success despite mixed critical reaction to the radical redesigns of the characters, and reviews criticizing the focus on the humans at the expense of the robots. It is the thirtieth most successful film released and the fifth most successful of 2007, grossing approximately US$708 million worldwide. The film won four awards from the Visual Effects Society and was nominated for three Academy Awards. The film became the first in a series, it revitalized media interest in the franchise, and a sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was released on June 24, 2009.

Plot

The film opens with Optimus Prime, heroic leader of the benevolent Autobots, describing in a voice-over the destruction of the Transformers' home world, Cybertron. It was destroyed by the evil Decepticon leader Megatron in his quest to obtain the All Spark. The Autobots want to find the All Spark so they can use it to rebuild Cybertron and end the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons, while the Decepticons want to use it to defeat the Autobots and conquer the universe. Megatron had managed to locate the All Spark on Earth, but crash-landed in the Arctic Circle and froze in the ice. After stumbling upon his frozen body in 1897, the explorer Captain Archibald Witwicky accidentally activated Megatron's navigational system and his eye glasses were imprinted with the coordinates of the All Spark's location, an incident that left him blind and mentally unstable. Sector 7, a secret government organization founded by Herbert Hoover, discovered the All Spark in the Colorado River and built the Hoover Dam around it to mask its energy emissions. The still-frozen Megatron was moved into this facility and was used to advance human technology through reverse engineering.

In the present day, the group of Decepticons — Blackout, Scorponok, Frenzy, Barricade, Starscream, Devastator and Bonecrusher — have landed on Earth and assumed the disguise of Earth vehicles (except Scorponok and Frenzy, who hide within Blackout and Barricade). Blackout and Scorponok attack the U.S. SOCCENT forward operations base in Qatar and try to hack into the U.S. Military network to find the location of Megatron and the All Spark. Their mission is thwarted when the base staff severs the network cable connections. While Blackout destroys the rest of the base, Scorponok chases a small group of survivors, led by Captain William Lennox and Sergeant Robert Epps, who have photographic evidence of the robots. Scorponok is eventually repelled and hides in the sand after his tail is damaged. During this battle, the military discovers the only effective weapons against the Transformers' armor are high-heat sabot rounds.

After Blackout's failure, Frenzy infiltrates Air Force One to again hack into the military network, planting a computer virus. He finds the map imprinted on Captain Witwicky's glasses. While the Pentagon interrupts Frenzy's plan, he finds that Witwicky's descendant Sam Witwicky intends to sell the glasses on eBay. Frenzy and Barricade begin tracking Sam's location. Meanwhile, Sam buys the Autobot scout Bumblebee (also on Earth disguised as a 1976 Chevrolet Camaro,[2]) as his first car. After Bumblebee helps Sam woo his crush, Mikaela Banes, he leaves at night to transmit a homing signal to the rest of the Autobots. Sam pursues Bumblebee, thinking someone is stealing his car, but is shocked to find his car is actually a giant robot, which he initially regards as evil. Sam then gets arrested, and in the police station, tries to explain the police officer what happened, but the uncaring officer just assumes he's on drugs. When Bumblebee (in car mode) returns the following day, Sam flees, believing the car is stalking him. While out, Barricade attacks Sam and interrogates him about his grandfather's glasses. Bumblebee saves him (as well as Mikaela). In the process, Mikaela severs Frenzy's head but he morphs into her cellphone and hides in her purse. They leave to rendezvous with the rest of the Autobots — Optimus Prime, Jazz, Ironhide, and Ratchet — who have landed on Earth and taken the forms of Earth vehicles as well. Sam, Mikaela, and the Autobots return to Sam's home and obtain the glasses; however, agents from Sector 7 arrive and take Sam and Mikaela into custody. The Autobots intervene, but Sector 7 captures Bumblebee and sends Sam and Mikaela away.

Sam and Mikaela are taken to Hoover Dam, as are Lennox and Epps, under Defense Secretary John Keller's orders. Frenzy sends an alert to the other Decepticons and sneaks into the computer system, freeing Megatron from his frozen state. Sam convinces the Sector 7 agents to release Bumblebee so that he can deliver the All Spark to Optimus Prime. Frenzy's virus has shut down government communications, but Keller and two hackers, Maggie and Glen, manage to establish a signal to the Air Force in order to support the Autobot-human convoy that has gone to nearby Mission City to hide the All Spark. The Decepticons attack; Bonecrusher, Frenzy, Jazz, Devastator and Blackout are all killed during the ensuing battle. Sam, who was instructed to put the All Spark into Optimus Prime's chest (subsequently destroying it and Optimus Prime if the battle went in Megatron's favor), instead chooses to ram the All Spark cube into Megatron's chest. The All Spark disintegrates, and its power kills Megatron. Optimus takes a fragment of the All Spark from Megatron's corpse, but admits that with its destruction, their home world Cybertron cannot be restored. The government orders the closure of Sector 7 and has the dead Decepticons dumped into the Laurentian Abyss. Lennox and Epps are reunited with their families, and Sam and Mikaela form a relationship. Optimus transmits a message to all surviving Autobots in space, telling them that they have a new home on Earth.

During the credits, Starscream, who fled the battle, escapes into space.
